Question Can I Change My Court Date for MIP of Alcohol

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

I am 18 years old and a full time student currently attending California Junior College. At the beginning of Augest my girlfriend and I were caught with alcohol at a California park by a few sheriffs. I claimed the alcohol as mine and recieved a misdemeanor citation for minor in posession of alcohol 25662 (a), which is a non-correctable violation. This is also my first offense.

My court date is scheduled for Wednesday September 24th, on which I have two VERY important calsses.

Is it possible to change my court date to a friday?
    (since I have classes monday-thursday)
Is being a full time student a valid excuse to change a court date?

What kind of charges should I expect for my actions?

Contact the court clerk about changing your court date, and the procedure involved. They may be willing to do it on request, or they may require a letter with documentation or (worst case scenario) a formal motion.

You already know what charges to expect - you're charged with violating Business & Professions Code Sec. 25662(a).
