My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Mexico. I have a one of those families that is so problematic that I severed contact a number of years ago and went on to have a wonderful life in another part of the country. My peace of mind has recently been shattered when one of my family members provided my social security number to a mentally unstable, alcoholic brother with a police record (he is on disability). This brother lives in another state and I recently received daily harassing emails telling me that he tracked down my physical address and intends to come to my front door. I emailed him a response just once-a cease and desist letter. The harassment has now escalated to him emailing me pornographic messages and telling me that he still intends to track me down and ruin my life. He has contacted classmates of mine from decades in the past, ex- boyfriends, and in short any name that he can get his hands on from my past and told these people falsehoods to get their sympathy/cooperation (the stories range from I am an alcoholic that needs help, I am mentally unstable and/or that my dying mother wants to reunite with me on her deathbed). I am fearful that this unstable brother will show up at my residence and start terrorizing my new family or harm myself or my loved ones. I would like to keep this secret and not bring anxiety into my household. Is there anything I can do to stop this harassment????
