My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois
My friend and I were caught stealing at walmart today. Was mostly a bunch of small items. The manager that talked to us said that we were never allowed at a walmart/samsclub ever again. I know of people who were caught shoplifting maybe a year ago and go into the same walmart all the time and are obviously not being arrested like we were told we would be.
My friend is 16 and i am 18. They told her to tell her parents. And said nothing to me since i am of age.
We signed a paper stating we were caught and put the date on it.
They have no other information other than our names. Are they going to send us letters or bills considering we didn't leave the store with the merchandise?
My friend is terrified that the police will call her parents and that everyone will find out.
They didn't press charges since we told them the truth like they wanted. They just gave us a trespassing thing. And we emptied our purses and then were escorted out.
I am just wondering if there is anything i should expect in the mail or anything from them?
