Default Compensation If You Opt Out of Health Insurance

I don't mean to hijack a thread with my first post, but i don't want to start a new one with the same question.

My fiance's employer offers to pay part of the cost if you use their provided insurance, but it isn't a good plan for a young woman, it does not cover any maternity or other feminine health care needs. Is the employer still obligated to pay her the ammount she would be getting if she went with the plan?

We are in SC in case state laws provide differently. There is no union.

Default Re: Opting Out of Health Insurance

You really should start a new thread; it's rude to hijack someone else's.

But I'll answer you. No. Just as I told the OP, there is NO legal obligation in ANY state for any employer to provide ANY additional compensation for an employee who opts out of the insurance.

The answer has not changed in the four days since the original answer.
