My question involves a security deposit in the State of:
I’m posting from California. I recently moved out of an apartment I had been living for 3 years. I had paid a security deposit of $600. Within two weeks of my last day, I received an invoice with a list of repairs the landlord made to the apartment that now has me owing him money. I had a discussion with him, and asked him why I wasn’t given notice of repairs that needed to be made so I could make the repairs myself. He told me I was forfeited this right because I had not requested an inspection. However, when I notified him of termination of my lease, he did not verbally or in written form, notify me of my right to an inspection(Civil Code section 1950.5). On this bases, will I be able to negate all payments for repairs he is trying to charge me with??
