My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: California
I am being sued over a minor auto accident that happened when I was backing out of a parking space in front of a shopping plaza. I had 3 friends with me.
The three of us have drifted apart over the past months for reasons unrelated to the accident (2 broke up with 2 of my close male friends, the other was never really a good friend at all - on top of that we're all busy working college students who live in separate cities).
My questions:
1) Will the plaintiff's lawyer be contacting the other passengers that were in my vehicle during the discovery process to use their statements against me?
-Have they already done this? (Their info is on the police report)
2) Could my passengers be called to out-of-court mediations/arbitrations?
3) Should I alert my passengers that this is going on?
4) Or is #3 something I should leave up to my lawyer (since I have not spoken to anyone about this case - and I have not seen these ladies in months.) I do not know if contacting them would hurt or help me, I do want to keep this issue as confidential as possible.
