My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Texas

I have been receiving phone calls from a collection agency for over a year now. Every time they call, I ask them to send me some kind of written information regarding the debt they say I owe. I have yet to receive anything in writing from them. They keep telling me to contact the post office because it must be a postal error. I have no problems receivng any of my other mail. I have asked if they can fax or email this info and the response I receive is, if they did that they would be violating privacy rules. I have asked if they will send the information to a different address and they have told me they will not be sending any more letters. They told me I could log on to a website and enter my account number to view the information regarding this so called debt. I tried the web site and it does not exist.

They have now reported this debt on my credit report. They have also recently told me that they will begin collecting penalties and interest.

Do they have a right to do this if I have never received any written notices from them?

Thanks for any advice anyone can give.
