    Question Shoplifting

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Pennsylvania

About six months ago I got stopped after walking out of a kmart store in Pittsburgh,by a security guy.He said "you took a bottle of relacore." I did not take relacore, but I did take a small 4 ounce bottle of Renu contact solution and a contact lens case.so, I did walk to the back of the store with him.Even though I did not steal a bottle of relacore,I still listened to him and followed him back in the store because if he asked to search my purse he would have saw the Contact Solution still with wrapping on it.The total was probaby $8.00 or so.They made me sign like four different papers.I got a letter in the mail from Palmer,Reifler and Associates.I ripped it up and threw it away. The next two that I recived I also ripped up and threw away.I was wondering if any thing could happen to me for not paying them?I'm guessing that they did not see me on camera because if they had watched me on camera they would have saw that I did not steal any relacore at all.But they would have saw me opening up the box of Renu contact solution, taking it out and putting that in my purse. Can you tell me what will happen to me for not paying Palmer Reifler and Associates? They call me pretty much and a recording of a woman comes on and gives a case number and says to call this toll free number.

Yep expect the fine to increase, maybe triple. If you continue to tear up these letters they can sue you in court and win. Then your few hundred dollars can become thousands. They can also press criminal charges

You go to cmu and you are stealing? Bad news. Go ahead and ignore the letters but it will be hard to find financial aid soon due to your deliquency. And yes the fines will go up so call them asap to set up a payment plan.

Dude, you signed a CONFESSION. You were unbelievably lucky to just get a civil judgement which won't RUIN your life! The camera that caught you may have not been sensitive enough to read fine print on a label, but what you were doing will be very clear. They WILL file criminal charges before the SOL runs out, and you WILL be convicted of stealing RELACORE as per your confession, then they will sue you for those fines plus the court costs. Don't be an idiot!!!
