I am not a lawyer. But I am replying because I am sick of the games temp agencies and their clients play. They do crap like this all the time. I have seen all the tricks they pull: interfering with unemployment claims, paying less than the job is worth, changing the temp's job description at the last minute without any notice, sending you on an interview only to find out that it is a different and lower paying position, lying about the job description, failing to tell you that parking is not paid, and more.

Maybe the best thing we can do is try to change the way temp agencies operate in this country. You might want to write your Congressman to urge reform of the temp agency industry. I believe the British Parliament has introduced or already enacted legislation to stop some of the tactics used by temp agencies in the UK. The US should do the same.

Or write to the temp manager's boss. This is what I plan to do I don't take any shit from temp agencies. I tell it the way it is.
They don't pay me benefits or health insurance, so I don't give a f*** what they think anyhow.
