My question involves an auto loan or repossession in the State of: Georgia
My husband had a repossession occur on a Monday. I paid the balance owed plus the towing fee on Tuesday around noon. The finance company kept jerking me around, stating they didn't have the information from the repo company,(who by the way I talked to several times on Monday and Tuesday. They had put it in the "system" Monday afternoon), they treated me incredibly rude (I'm not on the loan but I do have right of access to this account) continually changing their required documents to release the vehicle. Every time I would call I was told that a "manager" was reviewing it or that wasn't the correct paperwork, or they didn't get the fax and they had to get approval for the release, the list goes on and on. They kept up this little game until Thursday evening when they finally released my vehicle. (after I had called them every 15 minutes and after the repo office had closed)I didn't get my vehicle back until Friday evening. What is the law regarding the time allowable to the finance company to return my vehicle after they have received a full payment? They had the information(I have proof ). I think they were doing all of this purposfully. I was told on Monday when I first called that as soon as they received my money, they would release my vehicle. I had to pay an addditional $250 because I couldn't get my vehicle back before Friday thanks to them. Do I have any type of recourse in this?
