    Default Employment Records

    My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: michigan
    my question is about employee files. if you signed a paper saying you did some thing but afterwards the changed it how can i get a hold of the report can i ask them for it do they have to give it to me. i mean so i can see what it says because i think someone put stuff on it that i didn't and i would like to read it so i know. so i geusss my question is does the employer have to give me a copy or not

    Michigan is one of the few states that guarantees an employee access to their personnel files. You have the right to ask the employer to view your personnel file and they must allow you to see it. After you have seen it, you can ask for a copy and they must give it to you; however, they may legally charge you for the cost of copying (only the actual cost).
