My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California
I am caught in triangle at work and not sure how or if I have any rights to get out of it and hoping that someone could give me some advise.
The owner of my company hired a friend of the family, she started out great like everyone before her. But just like everyone before her, she started to slack off and do lots of personal business. Because she is not doing the job she is getting paid for, I am having to pickup the slack and getting blamed for some of the stuff not getting done. When the owner comes to me and asks me what she is doing all day, I cannot answer because I am not 100% sure. So I started to watch her and what she was doing, so when the owner comes to me to ask again (which I knew he would) I started to keep a log. So sure enough I was asked and gave him the information needed. At first he said that I was just trying to create drama. I told him that I was not trying to create drama, but wanted an answer to he question. I told him to check it out for him self and sure enough I was right. So he told me "well your her manager, you need to have a talk with her". So I did and she agreed she had been doing a lot of personal stuff and would cut it back to her breaks. Well I watched for a few days and she didn't even cut back at all.
Now the owner is treating me different and finding anything wrong with my work. I am not sure how to handle this ? I don't want to have to manager her because of there friend ship. So what rights do I have to ask to be removed as her manager due to the conflict of interest? I don't wanna loose my job over this by getting fired. So can someone please help me in any way???????
