The neighbors have and ingress egress across the corner of land and share a portion of our driveway.
In the same area the power company has a powerline easement. We have have been having serious problems with dirt bike and fourwheelers trespassing. The power co. gave us permission to fence this area (wood rail with nice log arch)and they bought a gate. Now the neighbors are complaining because we didnt ask them first and they dont like the looks of the fence and gate. The power co loved it by the way haha.
These neighbors live way up on the mountain and dont even have a clue what goes on down at the bottom. They say because they have to drive through this arch it is now a reflection on how their company views them and it isnt their taste. What do you do about this situation?
They say we should have shown them a drawing and had their approval first? This is rural unzoned Montana. After driving across the corner of our land they then continue up to their home a long ways away. They donot hear or see the trespass so they dont believe us i guess. Its our understanding this is still our land to use and decorate as we wish they just have ingress and egress right? And we have not changed their right to use it in anyway except the UN locked gate. By the way they have a gate a bit farther up to protect "their land"and keep trespassers out.
Not sure how to handle this.![]()
