My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Illinois

My next door neighbor and her husband had a car they were planning to sell. They had been trying to sell if for a while and weren't having any luck at the price they were asking. She took it to a relative that deals in used vehicles and he made her a reasonable offer to take it off her hands. Knowing her husband was wanting it sold, she signed her name and his to the title and took it in and got the money. Her husband was upset that she didn't get more money for it, but did he let it go and accepted the money.

It has been several years since this incident. Now they are having problems, and he has brought up the issue and says he probably won't do anything about it, but he is still upset that she committed fraud against him. Can she in fact be prosecuted for fraud after all these years? She is scared to death.

I think it is horrible that he is holding that over her head. They have bought and sold other vehicles together since then and never a word about it until he decided to leave her. I think he is saying it so that she will let him have everything he wants and go easy on him in the settlement. But where does she stand legally? Both their names were on the title.
