Default Allowing Unlicensed Minor to Drive

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Washington

Hello, my nephew is 16 and has no license, not even a permit. My brother lets him drive all the time and he often refuses to let me drive when we are forced to go places together. Can anything legally happen to me if there is an accident/ticket that he receives and I am with him? Need to know if I should put a foot down or not, thanks.

Slam that foot down as hard as you can, and do it now.

No, you may NOT allow an unlicensed minor to drive. It's illegal.
No person shall cause or knowingly permit his child or ward under the age of eighteen years to drive a motor vehicle upon any highway when such minor is not authorized hereunder or in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter.

    [1965 ex.s. c 121 § 44. Formerly RCW 46.20.343.]

Yes, you CAN be held responsible if he causes damage while you are with him.
