My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Jersey
I worked for a store and I was caught giving discounts. Needless to say, I was brought to the LP office, questioned, and had to write a statement that I'm admitting to my mistake and willingly to pay the cost. I got terminated and after two weeks I received a letter from a Law Office stating that I pay the $150.
It says verbatim ...
This letter is a demand that you pay $150 in satisfaction of this civil matter. This is not an attempt to collect a debt.
and at the last paragraph, it says ...
[Name of store] does not wish to file a civil action against you. HOwever, if we do no receive .... blah blah blah
There was no police involved whatsoever. If I pay this $150 -- which I will by the way, is it over? Will I get arrested? I'm completely scared.
