Firstly, my question involves emancipation laws for the State of New Hampshire.
I am a sixteen year old female entering my junior year in high school, generally regarded as ambitious and responsible, attending a private school, handling rigorous courseloads, receiving high marks, taking part in and running numerous community service activities, and aspiring to be a medical doctor specializing in orthopedic surgery, or perhaps a professor of theology. I have never done drugs or drank; also, unlike many of the posters I've seen on this website, I am not a teenaged parent.
However, as many of the posters in this forum, I am looking for insight into the emancipation laws in New Hampshire. My family and I have a very dark and dangerous relationship, to be euphamistic, and my therapist, as well as other professional individuals in the past, has suggested emancipation.
However, through my limited resources, it appears to me that a minor cannot be emancipated in New Hampshire (unless pregnancy or marriage is somehow involved). But, then again, I have read that it may be possibe for a minor from New Hampshire to be emancipated through another state's legal system.
Being a high school student, with google as my only bridge to any resources, it is very hard to find information on this. An when I do find good information, it can be overwhelming trying to decode legal jargon.
I know to even be seriously considered for emancipation I must get a well-paying job, and be able to prove that I can be 100% responsible for myself, including financially. Although this may sound naive, I believe that I could do this, and have a decent case for emancipation.
Unfortuntely, I tend to think that emancipation is not even a legal option for living in this state, but before abandoning all hope, I figured I might as well look for some last tidbits of information. I was wondering if anyone with information could help me out; it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
