HELOC Payments After Foreclosure

My question involves a foreclosure in the State of: Arizona.

Long story, short version is that our family moved out of Arizona for a new job out of state and our house in Arizona went into foreclosure because we just could not sell it. The house was auctioned off about 4 weeks ago and I have a question about the HELOC. Our HELOC is with PNC Bank and they keep sending us a bill every month and have not communicated with us at all about their HELOC being unsecured. Nobody in customer service has an answer for me and they can't transfer me to anyone else until I miss a few payments.

Should we assume that your second mortgage lender was not notified of the foreclosure, and was not a party to the foreclosure action?

Our second mortgage lender was not a party to the foreclosure and I did try telling the people in PNC's customer service department before the foreclosure what was happening. It is frustrating because I have read and seen on TV that you want to be upfront with your lenders, but your lenders do not want to talk to you until you get in trouble.
