    Default Theft at Store

What did the store say? Did the police come to the store?

If the police were not called then y ou will not be prosecuted. If the police were called they would have probably given you a citation(similar to a speeding ticket) and given you a court date at tha time you would've been sentenced with a fine or some sort of community service.

    Default Involvement of Police

I have seen cases where the Loss Prevention staff submitted their report to the police, without calling the police to the scene while the suspect was still present, and charges still followed.
