Question Waiting For a Civil Demand

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia

I had an incident at Wal-Mart over a 30 dollar item. I was stupid and in a rush because of circumstance. Got busted, went to LP office and they let me off. Cops only came to verify that I signed a document stating I couldn't come back to the premises. I kept my mouth shut to it about my parents, until about a month later when they sent a civil demand notice to the house and I got busted. I sold a valuable possession to pay for it. No biggie, I ****ed up and am making it right.

But a week or so later at my job the LP office calls me and says they had an investigation on me, long story short I admitted to internal theft to the grand total of 71.50. I signed a promissory agreement and sent the money off a week or so later.

I've called the law office several times in the recent weeks and they still have not received my case number. I've sent the money so my end is held up. I've informed them on many occasions that any paperwork be sent to an alternate address and they assured me it will. My question is what is a rough estimate of the Civil Demand amount? Before I left they said anywhere from 0 - 300. I've already started amassing funds for its arrival, but in your experience for such a small amount what do you think they might charge me?

It may take a month or two to get your demand.

    It will come, don't worry.

    Oh, I'm sure it will.

But my question is since it was under $100 and all the other posts on here are being convicted of on average over $150 do they set the amount based on the amount you took?

    To a degree, yes.

But I think the 0-300 amount was probably pretty close.
