My question involves education law in the State of: New York
Okay, so this year was my senior year and we got to take different elective English 12 classes instead of your plain old English class. I got English in Media and Page to Screen. During the first half of the year I submitted my proposal and passed English in Media with a 87%.
Then, 3 weeks before our speech was do for senior project I get a letter saying my proposal was no longer going to work because it was "not advanced enough of a task for a senior project." So with only 3 weeks I scrambled and worked with my English teacher to create a new proposal. After taking TWO WEEKS to get back to me I get it back saying it was denied again and I would have to re do the project during the summer as they stated "you will not have enough time to complete the necessary projects in the amount of time left in the school year." Totally BS by the way....
So then my new Page to Screen teacher took it upon her self to be lazy and instead of create a real lesson plan she used parts of our senior project (which I was denied to complete) in our grade. Because of this I failed the class and had to go to summer school for it.
After receiving nothing in the mail, trying to email the teacher handing the summer version of senior project (only to get messages back from a school firewall?) and calling to get answering machines that never return a message I am in the dark.
I am passing summer school English 12 with a 98% average but I am freaking about the senior project situation.
My question is, what are they going to make me do now? I have been jumping through hoops to get this dam thing done and they are not responding or anything... Is this project required by NYS to graduate high school or is this something the school can do? At this point I am going to argue that after passing all my English classes (and getting all my regents credits etc.) that I should be passed right? They have not done anything to get me into the loop with the project and all of my requests go unanswered.
Someone please give me some advice,
Thank you.
