My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: West Virginia. My father just recently obtained custody of me. I'm 15 years old- I know the laws of West Virginia require you to be 16 before getting emancipated-, and my mother is very bad off on pills and she would beat me and still to this day she steals my child support to support her habbit. So I thought it would be a good idea to move in with my father. However I've been here a little over seven months now, and in this short amount of time he's proven to have anger problems I never forseen. He's thrown knives and plates at me, he's threatened me with dumbells, he's threatened my life as well, and countless other items. So I've been trying to look into emancipation laws. I'm currently employed, and I think it would be just enough to support myself on. But I don't know how to go about getting a lawyer and I'm not sure if a judge would consider my situation elegible for emancipation. If someone could please help me I'd be forever greatful.
