    Unhappy Neighbor Stole Electricity

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Tennessee

We moved out of our old house a while ago, one day when we went by our old house, we realized that our neighbor's entire house was plugged in to an outside outlet from our house. We quickly unplugged it and I called the police, the police came and took a report, and tried to get my neighbor to come out and talk, but he has two gigantic dogs, and pretended not to be home. I talked with our other neighbor and found out that he's done the same thing to her, except he lied to her and told her his electricity was out because of the electricity company. The cops told us that his electricity bill is registered under two fraudulant social security numbers, his license plates to his cars are fake. His driver's license expired 15 years ago. We really have no clue what this guy's name is! We invited him into our home and trusted him. Now that we're trying to sell our house, we often come home to find our SELLERS sign knocked down, and today, when we went by, our FOR SALE sign was stolen!!! I suspect it's him. But we don't know what to do next, we don't want to make a big scene, because that will just make it harder for us to sell or rent out the house, but we want justice! we have called the power company they said that either way, they're getting paid. they don't really care. They said this is a civil case, and we'll have to deal with it ourselves. Our old house is in a lower-middle class neighborhood, but our street is VERY safe and has never had any problems like this before, Even if we get a camera, what can we do with the evidence, he's never home until late night (1 or 2 AM) or early morning like (5 or 6AM) and he doesn't stay in the house at all bc there's no AC. Our new FOR SALE sign that cost us about 100 dollars to get has been stolen! and we suspect that he's stealing our mail at all. We have no idea who to present the evidence to, should we hire a lawyer? or call the cops again? We don't want other potential buyers to find out because we'll NEVER be able to get rid of the house then. Honestly, we're sort of afraid of him, before we found out what a crook he was he always said if anyone tried to harm us he'll take a gun and take care of them, he always talked about "getting" people, and we always thought he was joking. He's ripped us off before by offering to do some work for us but not actually doing it, he's charged us thousands of dollars for work that he's messed up on on our car and we ended up having to take it to the dealership and paying a few thousand more dollars to get it fixed again. Our other neighbor says she's seen suspicious people coming to his car and counting money and throwing it in his trunk, shutting it and leaving, she suspected him dealing drugs! this is all in a pretty nice neighborhood!!! We don't care about him dealing drugs, we just want justice!! PLEASE HELP US!

Allow me to kindly point out your FIRST mistake!!! You should have waited until the police arrived before unplugging the extension code. Now you have very little, if any, evidence supporting your claim.
