I was caught shoplifting at walmart about 2 years ago. It was my first time getting caught. I admitted I did it, and all I got was probation for 11 months and 29 days. I had to pay restitution for what I tried to steal, and it was close to $100, plus I had to pay probation costs and court costs. I also had to do drug tests once a month. I just got off of probation in July. When I got caught, they called the cops, and they made me sign a statement saying that I would never shop at walmart again, and if I did it would be criminal trespassing. My question is, if I go there, will they really press charges against me for trespassing? I am not going there to steal again, I learned my lesson, and I haven't done it since. I just want to go there to shop. Do you think this would be ok, or will they really take me to jail just for being there?
Another question. The item I tried to steal, they got it back before I could even get out the door. So why did I have to pay restitution for it anyway? Isn't that like them making double profit?
Oh yea, I live in the state of Tennessee.
