My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: North Carolina.

Is it ok for the landlord to tell us that we have to keep the electricity and water in our name while we don't live in the apartment
on top of that we are not allowed to unplug the refrigerator because it would break and then we would have to pay for it ....

A gs goverment job is taking us overseas. We have to put in a 60 day written notice, and they refuse to take the keys back until the end of the 60 days. We won't even be living in the apartment for the last month. They have charged us a one month termination fee 950$ just for them to except the 60 day notice , and they are going to keep the security deposit. plus 2 month rent/60 days

be nice if somebody could tell us if thats legal ,i just worry a lot because of the electricity ,,

thank you
