    Question Filed Leave of Absence - Can I File for Unemployment

    My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: florida
    I am moving back with my husband to tampa after 2 years of separation,while i was separated, i have a job in ft.lauderdale and filed for leave of absence at my work for 5 months,my question is can i file for unemployment?

    Certainly you can file. Nothing in the law says you cannot. The worst that can happen is that you are turned down.

    However, there are only a very few states that consider relocation to follow a spouse to be a valid reason to collect benefits, and to the best of my knowledge Florida is not one of them.

    Can't hurt to try, though.
