    Default 2nd Degree Retail Fraud in Michigan and HYTA

    so i have been looking through pass post and cant seem to get my question answered
    I got booked the other day for a 2nd degree retail fraud. and im 19 years old i noticed that HYTA my work in my favor( i DO NOT ever plan on doin this again) Do you know how this work? & what EXACTLY is HYTA??..im really looking not to get an attorney because i simply cannot afford it. Ive done some reseach and do i just have to plea HYTA when i go to court and have a loved one write a reference letter and i give it to the judge on my court date?? Is it possible to plea HYTA with out an attorney??

    When you go to court, ask for a court appointed attorney bc you can't afford one. The local public defender will be aware of programs available in your area and how to plead. I do not recommend that you go into any court room without one.

    HYTA is a form of deferred sentence for offenders between the ages of 17 and 21, under which the offender can avoid a conviction if she successfully completes probation. See MCL 762.11, et seq, and this thread.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH... . and do u know exactly how it works..like what im suppose to do because i dont want to come unprepard on my court date because i plan on using the local public defender that they provide me

    Also, who is generally the individual as the prosecutor? Is the the people from the store you caught me or is it some person that repersents the company?

    The prosecutor will either be a county prosecutor or a city/township attorney.

    Read the materials I previously linked, as they explain how HYTA works.
