Default J1 to F1, Au Pair to ESL Student to Nurse

If one is an Au Pair from Brazil with a J1 and has one more year left on it and wants to be an ESL student in Boston not NJ where she will be an Au Pair then what would the steps be to get the process started? My best guess is at some point the au pair would need to go to a Brazilian consulate or embassy here or Brazil? Then say after six months apply to the ESL School get accepted and then apply for an F1 and while that slowly over a few months gets approved that au pair would already be taking classes and I assume have given the old family a few weeks notice? Please let me know what wholes might exist in this scenario if you could thank you very much.

If you have a two-year foreign residency requirement, you need to get it waived. Then you would apply for your new visa and hope to be deemed qualified and have it approved before your departure date under your existing visa and program.
