My question involves a background check in the State of: California.
Has California adopted standard acceptable language on employment applications for inquiries into criminal history?
I ask because I've seen two applications. The first one with broad language to the effect of "Have you ever been arrested and convicted of . . . ." And the second application with language limiting the duration of convictions to "During the past seven years, have you been arrested resulting in a convictions of . . .?" Have some cities imposed 'during the past seven years' language, for instance San Francisco, to encourage employers to give job applicants second chances?
Thank you.
