    Default Extended Unemployment Benefits Appeal

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California

Back in May of 2006 I was laid off for summer and was receiving UI benefits. At the time I was a full time student; however, I could not find any work. I have been unemployed since and I recently received a letter about potential extended unemployment benefits. I filed a claim, but I was denied because my wages didn't meet the requirements. My wages totaled $6186.00 for the year, and the requirement is $6250.00. With that said... Would you recommend that I appeal? And if so, how should I prepare myself for the appeal? Thank you in advance.

So, the law ought to bend for you because you ALMOST meet the requirements?

Tell me, at what point SHOULD the state draw the line? When is being almost there close enough? If they decide that sixty-four dollars under the line is okay, how about sixty-five? Sixty-six? Seventy? When do they start enforcing the law as it reads instead of making exceptions because you almost made it?

Seems a lot simpler just to require that you meet the requirements to begin with.

I understand your point; however, there are always exceptions to the rule, that is why I am given the opportunity to appeal. If there is anyone who can be a bit more helpful, please feel free to respond. Thank you.

Since you were given the opportunity to appeal, go ahead & appeal. It can't hurt anything. However, don't be surprised if you are denied again. There's nothing we can tell you to prepare for the appeal - you just have to tell the truth.

How about just getting a frick'in job? Please don't feed us the line "I can't find employment."
