Default Divorce Without an Attorney - What Details Must Be Included in Docs?

My husband and I have agreed to divorce without the use of attorneys. I got a membership to an on-line program that helps create the necessary documents, but am not sure what has to be listed.

We were married, living together for 5 1/2 years, no children, and have been separated for over a year. Neither of us want anything from the other, simply to dissolve the marriage. Do we have to list any debt or property?

The house was his before we married, two vehicles and a boat are in his name, my vehicle is in my name. Our checking and debt have always been in our individual names.

Are there any cautions anyone can offer about filing without an attorney in this situation? Filing in Cuyahoga County, OH

Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

I recommend picking up a product, whether one you download to your computer or a "How to Handle Your Own Divorce in Ohio"-type book, which includes all the required divorce forms with instructions. (If you choose an online product, choose an established vendor like US Legal.) Then follow the instructions. You'll probably find that it's not particularly difficult when you have basic forms and instructions in front of you, and it beats our trying to reinvent the wheel here. The books and other products are usually pretty cheap.

If the instructions with your product are inadequate, pick up one of the books I mentioned. They're usually pretty cheap and readily available at local bookstores or online book vendors.

Thanks Mr. K! I did get a downloadable product that helped with all the docs, but they obviously don't offer legal advice.

I was just wondering if by law we have to list all our assets and debts if we are not splitting any of them?

    Thanks!

Also a thought, is call your local court house. I too live in OH and am in the process of filing for a dissolution, and I called to inquire, and the lady stated that they also have other documents Ill need. I too got a dissolution in Ohio book from the book store, that had all the major paperwork. Very simple overall. But there might be other documents youll need to pick up. I havent picked a set up yet so I cant say either way, but its a thought!
