My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Michigan
Last September I signed a one year lease on a condo that I rented through a realty group in Michigan. The owner/broker that I signed the lease with, told me I would not have to show the condo during my lease and that it would not be listed for sale during my tenancy.
Yesterday I received an email stating that they would be posting a 'for sale' sign in the front yard, that they needed keys for the lock box and that I would be required to show the condo with a 24-hour notice!
I do not have to give a thirty day notice of move out, until August 30th, since my lease ends on September 30th. Do they have a right to hassle me about whether I plan on buying the condo (which I will not) or whether I plan to renew my lease (which I will not) already?
Do I have any rights to keep the owner/broker to her word that I wouldn't have to show the condo? It's a lot of work making it look like a showplace. I know she is trying to run a business by selling homes, but I feel bullied.
Thanks, GreatLakes
