My question involves an arrest warrant from the State of: CA
I have a family member in the State of CA. Here's the deal:
- She stole items of over $400 from a department store
- She was charged with Grad Theft ( I think as a misdemeanor)
- She was ordered to do community service
- She failed to do the service; then rescheduled and failed to do it once more
- I assume she there's now a bench warrant for her, and that a judge won't be very flexible with her, given that she's now twice failed to do what he ordered in the given time
I'm not making excuses for her. Just trying to figure out what I should expect.
Given that she is a single mother and the items were valued at approximately $800, a) do you think she'll be doing jail time and b) if so, how much for this crime? She has a public defender only, by the way.
Also, if she doesn't turn herself in, how likely is it that she'll be found and brought in?
Any advice?
Thanks for any thoughts!
