Unhappy Filed Divorce but No Answer from Lawyer

My question involves divorce in the State of: New York

I have already filed for divorce in september of '06 due to domestic violence issues. My lawyer filed and i paid the fees that she requested up front. she filed the papers with the court and and the papers were sent to my husband. He didnt sign the papers. and she explained he had 2 months to sign the papers before any further action could take place. He had called my lawyer to find out what I wanted from him. Well I didn't get all my belongings out of his house and most of it was my daughters belongings in which he isn't the father. I had an order of protection against him and the cop wouldn't let me in the house to get the stuff out, my relatives had to do it on there own and didn't know where everything was. So that was all i wanted back. Therefore, i was instructed to send my lawyer a letter with a list of the items i wanted back. We didn't have property together and at that time we were only married a year. I sent the letter indicating what I wanted from him. Now I don't hear anything from my lawyer, I've left messages for her to call me back, if there is anything else I need to send her. As a last resort, I even sent a letter requesting to finish with divorce proceedings and if there was anything else i needed to contribute to let me know. But I have heard absolutely nothing from her and we are going on 2 years since filing the divorce. What do I do from here? Do I need a different lawyer? Do I go after her for not finishing the divorce? She has been paid in full for the services that she didn't finish. Please Help.

Write her a letter letting her know that if she does not finish the job she contracted to do, with due diligence...(soon!) that you will contact your state bar association. Then do it.
