I have a conviction in 1988 in California. I was recently working for a company that closed down. Another company pulled a background check on me (USIS). I was under the belief that a conviction in california only is reported for 7 years.
California Law
1786.18. (a) Except as authorized under subdivision (b), no
investigative consumer reporting agency shall make or furnish any
investigative consumer report containing any of the following items
of information:
(7) Records of arrest, indictment, information, misdemeanor
complaint, or conviction of a crime that, from the date of
disposition, release, or parole, antedate the report by more than
seven years.
I disputed it and they told me they dont have to remove it cause I dont live in California, I live in Missouri.
If incorrect, what kind of attorney do I need to hire.???? Please help![]()
