I resolved the issue by signing a Surrender Agreement with the management company, basically surrendering my security deposit to break the lease once and for all.
It is a lot of money but at least I dont have to worry about the possibility of paying for the rest of the lease term.
I don't know if landlords usually do that but I suggest this as a way out for all other lease-breakers!
