    Just so you know....

Every single defendant in open court is really a good kid but made a mistake.

Apparently, there are no actual criminals in the world... just good kids making mistakes.
I was just wondering then, should i have to go to court, im really hopeing for a plea deal and will know more on monday, what is the best thing for me to say? Since that really is the true story of what happened, what should i say?

Exactly what your attorney tells you to say. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Yes, you have to go to court.

    Felony.

    Look it up.

Also, it always helps to tell the truth.

And all that stuff about what a good kid you are: Apparently that didn't help you keep out of trouble, so I wouldn't bring it up.

OP... what you don't seem to understand is that, well, you AREN'T a good kid that made a mistake.

You lost a fortune at gambling and decided to rip off your employer... several times.

You make it sound like you accidentally tripped and found the company's money in your pocket.

You had premeditated intent and went out of your way to STEAL company funds... that you would never have paid back if you hadn't been caught.

You make it sound like you stole so that you could help local poor children get shoes before winter set in.

Regret and remorse in a court of law goes a long way. You have shown neither here.

You are upset that you got caught... but mommy and daddy bailed you out. You are really a good kid that plans involved plans around theft. You have yet to take any responsibility.... and the warnings I gave you about future career options have fallen on completely uncaring ears.

If you truly want to lessen your sentence, you need to really see this for what it is. You committed a crime. To pay off your losses, you committed a BIGGER crime. Badly. And got caught.

Now you want to know how to get out of it....

no trust me, future employer options have definitely not fallen on uncaring ears. Im really just concerned about jail time, all i want to do is finish my degree and thats it.

Im sincerely sorry for what ive done, i really am, if i could have changed it i would have by going to my parents first and telling them what was going on but when i started and wasnt caught, i just kept going and kept going and now im here at this point in time.

So you say no matter what ill have to go to court? even if i am offered a plea bargain?

Please dont think i dont care and think mommy and daddy can get me out of this, i havent ate in three days due to the fact that i probably wont ever be able to find a job ever again and the fact that my life is possibly screwed the next 30 months. I sincerely regret what ive done and wish it was done different, but its happened and i cant change it.

and im not trying to get out of it, i know im getting what i deserve but like ive said, i would do anything not to have jail time.

A plea bargain is an agreement between counsel for a guilty plea to a lesser charge with a suggested sentence.

I say suggested because a judge usually follows the sentencing guidelines, but does not have to.

Do let us know what happens.

Knowing more is always better. See if there is ANY way to avoid a felony.

Felonies are like luggage... they follow you forever.
