We moved into our home Oct. 2007. By Dec. 2007 there became problems with the neighbor's sewer pipe. As you enter into our driveway (neighbors are to the left)...their pipe is to the right and one day coming home there was a note stating that the pipe was broken. They had put a big kitty litter container over the pipe w/the note. Then the pressure of the stuff basically pushed off the top portion of the pipe and all their waste, etc. was flowing through our front yard. Didn't seem as if they were going to do anything, so the EPA became involved as this went on for a month...Basically, we were told this is on our property and this is our responsibility. We had to revert in calling a plumber and they had to bring in a backhoe and the pipe was cracked in three places. Of course neighbor commented that if it were reversed that our pipe was on their property then of course it would be their responsibility (b.s.) anyway..it is now July 2008 and the blasted thing is oozing AGAIN. Whose responsibility is it to have repaired? What if it is winter time and the pipes burst due to the cold weather...is it our responsibility? We are having such a time with these people and we need advise as this has got to stop. Our yard will always have to be torn up to fix and my husband and I would love to see it moved onto their property. HELP!!!!:
