My question involves criminal law for the state of:
i was just arrested yesterday for shoplifting. i have many questions, so if you know the answers, please answer them (:
1. If i am 17, am i still considered as a juvenile? (i live in NY)
2. Are lawyers supposed to be really expensive like, $3000 worth when my problem is just about shoplifting? i mean, i don't need them to defend me.. i already got caught anyways.
3. when i go to court, is there a chance im going to jail? (this was my first time getting arrested)
4. since i got arrested and got my finger prints done and etc, i probably have a record right? and this will influence me when i apply to colleges?
im sorry for so many questions, but i really do not know ANYTHING about law and this was my first time getting in trouble, so i really don't know what to expect.
i will really appreciate your answers to my questions (:
thank you
