Default Background Check of Misdemeanor Possesion Charges

I have been charged with two misdemeanor charges. 1 for possession of marijuana and one for ecstasy. I may be looking for an internship to a few pretty good companies next summer and will be looking for a full time job to a place such a GE in about 3 years. From what I understand the charges get off of your record in 2 years but I will be looking for an internship before that.

Do companies typically do a background check for interns? Also even though they would be off my record when im looking for a job, is it common for high paying jobs to track charges like this because i know that there are probably ways to find out even if they are no longer on my record.

A: Ask the company you are applying with.

If you tell them, you may get hired anyway.

If they find out from some other source, you will probably be fired.

Nothing EVER comes off your record. What is there, is there FOREVER.

It's possible that after x number of years it can be expunged, which removes it from public view and should block it from most employers. But it will never, ever, EVER be completely gone.
