I think this has been asked before, but I don't see anything that gives me some idea of what I may be getting into.

I have discussed marriage with my boyfriend and I want to find out if it will even be possible for him to eventually get his green card and be able to stay here while that is processed or if he would be sent home and have to wait a long time to come back.

He came here Illegally and we have talked about marriage, but I'm scared that we will be seperated for a long time. I need to know what the steps are to try for him to be legal or if this is only something a lawyer can tell me (is there a website that give me a listing of good lawyers or reccommended immigration lawyers)

Are there certain instances where the process is easier, such as if he has family who are here legally or are US citizens already or if we have children together. (I'm not saying that we would have kids to move things along faster or to help him get his green card, but if we were to get married and start a family before moving forward with trying to get him to be legal. Maybe waiting and hoping that laws will change and make it easier for him to become legal.)

I really hope someone can shed some light on what might be up ahead for me and if there are any success stories similar to mine I would love for someone to share them with me.

Thank you
