Default Is It Malpractice if a Doctor Refuses to Give Referrals?

My question involves medical malpractice in the state of: Pa

I have verbally ask for referrals to a nuerologist and a bone specialist

I got hurt at work last year in Aug ! My Dr does not want invovled in Lawsuit but also refuses to keep me in medicine ! I was on naproxcin 500 and 500 of hydrocodon all at once I was not allowed any more meds I am in constant pain ! which also raises my blood pressure ! the more pain the higher BP

I had 3 compresion fractures with a scoleosis and a Kyphosis which they also found osteopenea -1.8 and -2.1 scorse At my last Dr appointment I was told My reg Dr had it in the records for no more meds ! and my Back was not even looked at I am still under treatment at A Physical theraphy place that has not even been able to give any thing other than ultra sound s
every time we have tried any thing physical I have swollen ! also I have had sharp stabbing pains like some one stabbing me in my back I have also been having cramps the whole way around my rib cage simalair to like a charlie horse feeling in my ribs hurts like hell ! The whole time ! I also found out that last 3 visits Dr had not even mentioned on my reports that these visits were for Back injury check ups!

I need these tests they should have already been done since I have had Back deformity (very apparent just from looking ) Since accident( my whole right side is swollen and my right shoulder appears higher than the other )! Now this place I worked stopped my insurance retroactive 6 months so now I will have all my Medical bills from Jan throu June that I will have to pay back too!

What all can I do ! This will just keep getting worse ! I do not want to have Heart attack or stroke from this Dr. ignorance!

Your Physician is under NO obligation to give you a referral. You are no longer covered by insurance, so you can go anywhere you want to for treatment.

How many hydrocodone do you take on a daily basis and how long have you been taking it? Have you thought about seeking treatment at a pain management specialist?

Your Physician must feel that you are over-utilizing (aka abusing) pain medication and has appropriately declined filling future narcotic prescriptions.

If your Doc did not list your back pain as reason for your office visit, what was his working diagnosis? Has he ever ordered any diagnostic testing (CT, MRI, X-ray)? If so, did you get them done?

Heart attack and/or stroke because you did not get a referral for more pain meds? I don't think so.

Blood work ,MRI showed 3 compression fractures and Scoleosis and a kyphosis from the injury ! along with degerative Disc Disease and R Arthritis !

also a Dexiscan showed Osteopenia ! My Back and ribs are now deformed I guess for ever ! also I was told this Dr sho have auto matically sent me to a bone Dr for Kyphosis !

Over use There is no way The bottle was saying to take every 4 to 6 hours but he was only giving me 30 pills for 4 to 6 week periods of time (mostly not even enough for 1 a day)! I had to stretch them out to get through that period and deal with Pain ! The Dr had stopped all ,before my insurance had informed of going retro active 6 months ! He is my primary Dr and my bill now is only 266.00 ! I was just checking here for any more ideas because even thou I do not have any insurance I Called around asking for prices and they all said same things other than 1 They said I did not need a referral but would not even give Prices with offer to Pay up front ! Becuae they said that one would not se with out insurance ! all others want referrals and Insurance ! So I would like to know what to to because this is prejudice actions ! refusal because no insurance especailly with offer to Pay !!

then go to a different GP. Since you have no insurance, you are not limited by that. Get a second opinion of your situation and let that lead you to your next step.

While it may sound like your GP is not treating you properly, it is impossible, from here, to know exactly what is going on. Get another doctor to look at you and your records and advise you.

I have fired more than one doctor in my life. because I did not feel I was being treated properly. Just be careful it is not doctor shopping to find a doctor that agrees with you because you know you are right. :et them make the call.

It's not possible to give you exact fees before you are seen. They have no idea what services the Physician will provide until he/she examines you.

Honestly, some one calling for their first appointment...calling because they need pain medication...stating they will pay cash...smacks of drug seeker. That may not be fair, but it's reality.

If this is due to a workplace injury, why isn't worker's comp paying for your treatment and prescriptions?
