Default Minor Buying and Possessing Alcohol

My question involves criminal law for the state of: texas

i am 16 and i was recently caught purchasing alcohol from a gas station. to be more specific, i actually purchased it, and was caught as i was walking out and getting into the car. i was taken to the police station to get my picture and fingerprints done, and then i was released to my parent. i have never been in trouble with the law and i have a clean slate [so far]. i am an outstanding student- i'm in the top 2% if my class, in orchestra, national honor society, spanish national honor society, national math honor society, academic octathlon, academic integrity committee, jv swimming. i was selected as a national merit commended scholar and have never gotten in trouble.

i have a couple of questions

    1. will i be charged with purchasing AND possessing alcohol?
    2. what are the likely consequences of this?
    3. does me being an outstanding student make a difference in this situation?
    4. will this go on my record?
    5. will this affect my chances of getting into college/career?

Being an outstanding student does not give you a free pass on breaking the law. This doesnt seem like the actions of an outstanding student.

You have already been charged. What does it say?

    2. what are the likely consequences of this?
That would depend on the charges.

    3. does me being an outstanding student make a difference in this situation?
Yes and no. Every kid that gets caught with beer is a "really good kid" that has "never done anything wrong before" and "will never do anything bad again".

You may need to come up with another schtick.

    4. will this go on my record?
The quick answer is yes. You may, however, be able to get a diversion. This means that if you finish your sentence and keep your nose clean, the arrest will be hidden from most searches.

    5. will this affect my chances of getting into college/career?
Probably not... but it could depending on the career you choose.
