My question involves criminal law for the state of: New York
About two months ago my daughter was caught shoplifting at Sears in New York.
She was supposed to recieve a Civil Demand Notice and she has not recieved it yet. My daughter is 16. Do you know when she will recieve this letter? When I called up Sears to question them about when she would recieve the letter, they gave me no asnwers and just said it was turned over to Sears attornies. When I questioned them about contacting Sears attornies, the LP officer I was speaking with told me they were not allowed to give out that information. Then he told me he had an important call and to call back another time. When I asked him for his name, he told me he wasnt at liberty to give out his name and that no information leaves from their end unless it is to the authorities or Sears Attornies.
So when should we be looking to recieve this Civil Demand Notice?
And what was that about when I spoke with Sears?
Should I contact my attorney and see if he can contact Sears Attornies?
