Back in 1999, when I was 20 yrs old I got caught up in a petit theft charge. I did not have a lawyer, but was advised that if I pled for adjudication withheld, take a class on CD for Theft and did 6 months probation/supervision, that I would not have a record. Was that correct? I am concerned because I am in the process of looking for a new job and am wondering how I should respond to the question, 'have you ever been convicted?' 'Pled no contest or pled guilty to a misdemeanor or felony?' I do not want this stupid incedent to ruin my professional career by anwering the question or not answering it at all and an employer pull my record and theres this charge shows up and ruins my chances at employment. What advise do you have? Please help.
