My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois
My friends and I were sitting in a minivan in a parking lot drinking some alcohol. We had just finished smoking the very rest of the weed we had when an officer walked up to the car. We all got out of the car and gave the officer our respective ages, I am 21 the other two were 19 and 20. Several more officers arrived at the scene, and after a quick search one of the officers found my friend's marijuana pipe - which they claimed as theirs. A little bit later, another officer found my other friends scale. My friend admitted to the fact that the scale belonged to him. I got searched, and had nothing found on my person's. At the time the officer walked up to the car I was sitting in the front passenger's seat of the van, while both of my friends were situated in the very back of the vehicle. Both of my friends received drinking tickets, and all of us received possession of drug paraphernalia tickets.
While talking with one of the officers, I jokingly remarked that I was getting a possession of paraphernalia ticket without actually possessing and paraphernalia. He replied that maybe I should argue my case with the judge.
So my question is do I have any chance of getting this ticket dropped, or am I guilty by association?
