Default Mold in Apartment, in Florida

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: FLORIDA

On Monday my boyfriend (who is the on the lease as well) informed the management that we have and AC leak, a very slow drip, that has collected water on the floor of the closet it's in and mold is growing. They have not yet come to fix it, nor have they called us about it. My question is should I mail them a letter (certified, return receipt of course) tomorrow that official states the issue, or should I wait a bit? I think my recent allergies, which mostly affect me when I'm home, are related to this as well, so I'm worried about health implications. We have a 1 year lease that ends Sept. 30, '08.

I'd call them every day three times a day until they fixed it.

In the meantime, doesn't Home Depot or someplace like that have something you can put down to alleviate the growth of mold? (yeah, I know, it's not your job, but it is your health.)

I'm not sure if I can actually kill the mold, the wall itself is wet, and it's been VERY humid (summertime) so I'm afraid that it could be in the sheetrock. Not 100% sure how that works but there isn't anything I can do to prevent the water from getting on the wall.

Yeah, I know, it's a stop-gap until someone actually can fix it. But I thought there was something that is supposed to suck all the moisture out of the air. (not a de-humidifier) more like a bag of something.

I did a google search and found this stuff. http://www.amazon.com/HANGING-DAMPRI.../dp/B000NCWOZO

It has very good reviews. But hopefully, the matter has by now been resolved.
