My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: NY

Ok so this is very complicated and not sure where to even begin...so here it goes.

My mom has MS and is wheelchair bound. She and and my father have been married for 25 years, but for the last 6 they have lived seperately. Recently, my mom has gambled over 50 K in debt and cannot pay it back. She and my father have now divorced for financial reasons. Only 1 credit card has his name on it and her name is on the house he lives in. If she declares chapter 7 how does this affect him? What would be the best course of action? He did not know about this gambling until he went to use the credit card and realized it was maxed out. Also, she is now fully disabled and is there a disability bancruptsy she can declare? I am so overwhelmed with this whole situaltion and need help!!! The bottom line is that he does not want to lose his house and we need to get my mom's bills all squared away, but don't have the moey to pay off all her debt.
