    Default MDOP in Michigan

I'm an eighteen-year-old female. Today I was arrested form MDOP because I paintballed some houses and cars. From what I understand, there was not permanent damage to anything, seeing is how the paint is washable. We were followed by a man, who ended up slamming his car into the side of ours to stop us. He was barreling towards us, and we swerved to miss him, (there are tire tracks on grass to prove this) but he claims we hit him. It is to my understanding that he received a ticket. Basically, I want to know what I should expect? My boyfriend Andrew, my friend Alex, and myself are the ones who were paintballing. It was Alex's car and paintball gun if it helps. I have no previous records, and neither does Andrew. We're clean. We weren't intoxicated in any way. What can I expect?

That great big, boldfaced instruction about how long it would take to get an answer, and the forum instruction not to reply to your own thread, was somehow lost on you?

From what you say, you are charged with a crime, probably misdemeanor MDOP. But you haven't specified, so you're making us guess. It makes sense for you to hire a criminal defense lawyer to represent you, or if you cannot afford a lawyer request a court-appointed lawyer.

Sorry, but given my nervousness at the moment, I haven't read silly forum rules. Me replying to my own thread got me an answer quick, did it not?

I specified quite, actually. What more information do you need? I can afford a good lawyer - where do I obtain one?

I took pity on you, but now that you've proved yourself to be an ass... that's over.

Wow, now I'm an ass? I wasn't trying to be smart - I was asking what more info you needed. Sorry.

Ok you are an idiot. Driving around shooting a paintball gun at cars and houses. Get a lawyer, wanna know where to find one. Look in the freakin phone book under attorney's. Usually found between Athletics and Automobile in the yellow pages.

Then grow up, this type of activity I would expect from a child. You are an adult, so start acting like one.

I didn't come on this site to be attacked - I came on to get help. Please, don't treat me with such disdain. I KNOW what I did was WRONG, and CHILDISH. I feel like an idiot, and I am ashamed to even post about it. You didn't have to be so rude. I am an adult, yes, but at 18, I've never need a lawyer before - I didn't know where I could find one. Thank you for the info though, and believe me, this experience has made me grow up.

Ok you say the paint can be washed off. I know it can be as well. Because the paint used in the ball is water based. But did you go back to look at the vehicles. I bet if you do you will find little dents that look like hail dents on the vehicles you shot. Paintball guns have enough force to put a dent in the metal vehicles are made out of.

Also did you go look at the houses that were hit. If you do, you might find cracks in the vinyl siding, dents in aluminum siding, dents in the aluminum flashing around the windows. All this costs money to repair. Which is damage to private property.

You were most likely charged with Malicious Destruction of Private Property. The Officer could have charged you either with a felony, or a misdemeanor. depending on how much the total cost is from the damage you and your friends caused.

You can expect to go to court, if found guilty, you will end up with a fine and probation. But you could be placed in jail. It depends on the judge. We can not state what will happen. What I stated could happen is only abbreviated from what the guidelines are from the laws you broke.

Alright. Thanks for the reply. I'll talk to my lawyer and see how much damage was done. Thank you.
