My question involves employment and labor law for the state of: Texas
Last week I quit my job on Wednesday. I turned in all of my time sheets for the pay period to be paid on the 16th, Monday. On Friday, the girl comes in and enters the time and cuts the checks.
On Monday, I called about my check and was told by the receptionist that the husband/wife team I worked for - the husband said I would have to call the wife. She had my check. I tried to contact her. No return contact.
Delay of payday 1.
On Tuesday I had sent an email to both husband and wife telling them I would be at the office by noon to get my check. I was later contacted by the receptionist who said there is no check there. No husband/wife team. No information regarding my check. I was already on my way to the office, which is not close to my house. I contacted the wife from the office asking if my check was there. She told me to not text her anymore. She would mail it to me. The husband then called immediately and said he would TRY to have a check for me tomorrow.
Delay of payday 2.
Everyone else got paid on the 16th but me.
Another issue - the day prior to this pay period, I was offered another job. Wife talked me into staying with a substantial raise. She never told husband and is now denying it. They are not wanting to pay me the raised amount.
So, 2 problems. They MAY have a check for me tomorrow. He's going to work on it, she wants to mail it to me. Don't I have the right to be paid on time when everyone else is? Now I have to spend the gas to drive across town AGAIN to hopefully get a check he is going to TRY to have ready.
What is my recourse?
